Folklore Museum of Gavalochori
The Historical Folklore Museum of Gavalochori was founded in 1967 and inaugurated in September 1993. The Venetian building of the museum with Turkish intervention is a characteristic manifestation of the local architecture. The exhibition of the Museum display the history and folklore of the region since the exhibits include weapons, swords and paintings from the longstanding fights of the Cretans, as well as coins of Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, The museum is situated in Gavalochori village of Chania , a traditional settlement, about 26 km south east of Chania city.

HOW TO GET THERE: Gavalochori can be reached by buses departing daily from Chania or by car towards Rethymno following the signs to Kalyves and after then signs to Gavalochori.
