Minoan Tomb in Maleme
Minoan Tomb in Maleme
The Minoan vaulted tomb of Maleme was randomly discovered in the beginning of the 20th century. It is a remarkable well-preserved tomb that was built of the late Minoan period. The entrance is impressive with 2 meter height and 1.6 meter width. Though many findings were stolen when the tomb discovered, several shells and two seals have been found. The tomb is situated at “Kafkala”, a location near 3Km south of the village Maleme and 18 km west of Chania, 700m away from German Cemetery of Maleme.

HOW TO GET THERE: By car towards Kolymbari follows the signs to German War Cemetery. You will find it after 700m. The road to Minoan Tomb is the same with the road to the German Cemetery.
